'All That Glitters Is Not Gold'

Inner thoughts of a hurting 'homo sapiens'
Folds of pain and sorrow Inter-twined into a mask of false smiles
The heart covered in darkness yet radiating 'a brightness' that lit up the entire city

'All that glitters is not gold';
A platitude shortly followed with a yawn
Intricacies of emotional turmoil
Professionally covered to be mistaken for vibrancy
A seemingly perfect front that leaves a spectator in utter deception

And like 'masters', their genuine emotions are locked away
Even the best of drillers wouldn't reach such depths
Layers upon layers did this debris accumulate
Forming massive rock fragments as a shield
Seen only by those sensitive enough to notice

The cries of the heart who can successfully silence?
Screams of little bubbles struggling to pop
And of fast growing thorns in search of open space to express themselves
Entirety is left in utmost quagmire

Inward loneliness numerous like sleeping waters
Chilly cold breeze howling about and around
Starved for want of attention
But the impermeable barricade shuts everyone out

To the rescue, who will come
Who can hear a silent heart when it wails
Handicapped by ignorance, kiths have no idea
When truly will help come, who can say for sure.
